Web content Your website must provide informative content. The content should be in layman’s language with proper grammar and punctuation. Keep in mind that people use the internet to find information so no matter whether you are selling your own product or recommending someone else’s products, you must provide accurate and valuable information to the visitor or he will simply move on to another site. Browser Compatibility Keep in mind the fact that people use different types of browsers and so your web site should be designed such that it is compatible with all of them. This means that you should not use too many special effects because they may not be supported in most browsers. Remember the user may be browsing your site using a PC, a MAC, a Linux box, a PDA or a cell phone and they all use different browsers. A good web design means that your web pages are easily accessible in Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, Opera and Safari at a minimum. Graphics and Photos Studies have shown that web users get impatient if the site takes more than 10 seconds to load. Keeping this fact in mind, always optimize your photos and other graphic files to have as small a size as possible without sacrificing picture quality. Use the ALT HTML tag so people with graphics turned off and those using hand held devices know what the picture is supposed to be. Background Colors While designing your website, if you are using any color other than white for behind text, be sure to specify link colors. Multimedia Multimedia is composed of flash movies, video clips, audio clips and background music. If you have to use multimedia then always use streaming media because it reduces download time. Also, put any important information presented in multimedia in text as well. This is because if the user has a slow connection or if he doesn’t have the right plug-in, he may not be able to view the information in the multimedia file. Guide to web design
December 22nd, 2009Web Design, Graphic Design and Advertising – Differences
December 15th, 2009Difference between Graphic Design, Web Design and Advertising Design. Based on the practices of these years and these last two months, I’ve noticed that when we offer our services as Web designer tend to confuse the customer by our very Confucianism in terms of the concepts of web design. For this reason, I decided to write this article under the title of web Design, the title will probably not say anything, but I hope to get a lot of doubts about the concepts are concerned. 3 are the concepts that I am going to try, and I’m going to write my own words and according to my experience. We started with Web Design: Probably not need much eplicacion in which we do not have many doubts, however we tend to confuse Web Design India with Web Development, as well?, Simple, we offer Web design when in reality we are referring to sites that use only static HTML, something CSS and a lot of Photoshop. In contrast, Web Development includes the above with the particularity that also adds PHP as a programming language to interact with the data base which usually is in MySql servers to Linux, or asp or aspx pages as a programming language and Sql as Bases Data for Windows Servers. Come right? In summary for this section: If the server is using Linux PHP Mysql; If the server is Windows will use ASP SQL. If the site is static does not matter because the server will use HTML CSS which is supported on any of the above dimension servers. Graphic Design: The graphic design includes a wide range of services, ranging from the design of business cards, brochures, flyers, folders executive, and so on. Until the gigantografía (roadside billboards). In the graphic design elements used to make nice to see the job, a photo downloaded from the Internet, background colors, letters that make the game, and so on. But this is pure Graphic Design, and the practice is more common among designers. However, when a customer asks us to include in all their gear elements of its corporate identity, the thing changes and becomes: Marketing Material For the Marketing Material must meet the standards of the client, respect the tipografia, colors, sizes, relationships, separations and other items set forth in its Corporate Identity. It is no coincidence that Major Companies invest thousands of dollars in making its corporate identity, these are large volume of documents that seek to standardize both the tape and the arts that the customer needs and will need. For the preparation of a Corporate Identity intervene marketers (Graduates in Marketing) and study hard but the results are admirable, then that the marketers completed its work and entegó document to the customer, the latter will pass the document to your Publicist who is responsible for what is established in that document is fulfilled. Therefore we can say that generally perform work of Graphic Design merely, but if it concerns the standards set in his client’s Corporate Identity and moved on to talk about Advertising Design Advertising and Graphic Design, as you want to call. Besides that is heard more attractive offer “Graphic Design Advertising. ” I am sure that these concepts will help us better understand and provide better services to our customers or small businesses.
Color in Web Design
September 19th, 2009The color scheme you select for your web site design is critical. Color affects our perceptions of a space, so when planning your web site choose your colors carefully. If you’ve hired a web designer, he or she can help determine the most appropriate color scheme for your web site.
A great deal of research has been conducted surrounding the psychology of color. A recent study published in the journal, Nature, analyzed the effect of uniform color on athletes, such as soccer players, boxers, and wrestlers. The study concluded that the athletes wearing red won more than sixty percent of the time. The scientists who conducted the study were convinced that the red uniforms gave the winning team a psychological edge. You might want to consider red clothing for your header background.
Colors are often associated with temperature or with certain emotions. These are culturally derived meanings and they can have a very real effect on people. Colors such as red, orange, and yellow are considered “warm” colors and can have a stimulating effect. The New York Times recently published an article concerning color schemes for schools, and found that reds, yellows, and oranges were often used in hallways to “speed up children in halls and gyms.”
Blues and greens are considered “cool” colors and can have a calming effect, especially when combined with fluorescent lighting. Blues and grays are also associated with ice, snow, or winter. If your company sold skis for example you might want to consider using these colors.
Gray and beige, are more neutral colors, and have associations also. Gray or silver can take on a futuristic, “gee-whiz” connotation. Beiges and browns can be used to suggest a nostalgic, retro feel in a booth. White can be used to create a more expansive feel in a space, while black creates a more confined feel.
Factor in your company’s home base or the location of your target clients when considering color schemes. If your company is based in the Southwest, browns and tans might work for you. Or, if your client base you are targeting is located near the coast like Miami, consider blues or greens. You should consider color selection to be one more item in your “arsenal” as you compete for the customer’s attention and retention in your web site.
