Payment Service Providers

January 1st, 2010

From eBay to your favorite online merchandisers, online shopping has doubled since three years ago. Not everyone is comfortable with buying items online, but a recent study revealed that the vast majority of buyers and sellers rely on online payment services to transact business over the Internet. A payment service provider (PSP) offers merchants online services for accepting electronic payments by a variety of payment methods. These methods include: credit card, bank-based payments such as direct debit, bank transfer, and real-time bank transfer based on online banking. One type of PSP allows buyers to purchase money orders electronically. The money is then sent via regular mail to recipients. Buyers must pay fees if they choose to use this service. An example of this type of PSP is BidPay. PSP such as eBay administer person-to-person (P2P) accounts where users can send money electronically to other members. eBay and Paypal are usually free services, but they do charge fees for accepting money into an account. Most online payment services have a limit on how much money can be sent and received. Advantages of Online Payment Systems Immediate authorization Functionality Customer convenience Additional direct sales channel Streamline payment process Disadvantages of Online Payment Systems Fees Potential fraud Security issues About CODANK Charlotte Web DesignCODANK is a top rated Charlotte Web Design, Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimization firm located in Charlotte, NC. Where Do People Search?

December 31st, 2009

There are many places where you can search for websites. Literally thousands of sites, in fact, provide the ability to search the Web. But, what you may not realize, however, is that many of those sites search only a small subset of the World Wide Web. However, the majority of searches are carried out at a small number of search sites. How do the most popular search sites rank? That depends solely on how you measure popularity: Entire number of site guest Percentage of site visitors (audience reach) Total number of searches conducted on a site Total number of hours visitors spend searching at the site Each individual measurement provides a slightly different ranking. Even though all of them provide a similar picture with the same sites generally appearing on the list, some are in to some extent different positions. Below is a list of the world’s most popular search sites, based on one month of searches during August of 2007 (approximately 8 billion searches) according to a Nielson/NetRatings study. These statistics are for U. S. Internet users: Google. com – 53. 6% Yahoo. com – 19. 9% MSN. com – 12. 9% AOL. com – 5. 6% Ask. com – 1. 7% My Web Search – 0. 9% BellSouth Search – 0. 5% Comcast Search – 0. 4% My Way – 0. 4% SBC Yellow Pages Search – 0. 4% Please remember that this is a list of search sites, not search systems. In some cases, the sites own their own systems. Google supplies its own search results, however AOL does not. My Web Search is a metasearch engine receiving results from Google, Yahoo, and Ask. com.   About CODANK Charlotte Web DesignCODANK is a top rated Charlotte Web Design, Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimization firm located in Charlotte, NC.
